Food security
Abuja Food Bank Initiative
A growing effort to connect nourishing food, dependable local partners and practical support with households facing food hardship in Abuja.
The purpose
A clear need deserves a clear response.
Food hardship is not always visible. It can look like a parent reducing meals so children can eat, a household choosing between food and another essential expense, or usable food being wasted because there is no dependable route to the people who need it.
The Abuja Food Bank Initiative is Lifeshare’s developing response. The aim is to build a careful local network linking food businesses, farms, supermarkets, community groups, volunteers and donors with households identified through trusted referrals.
This initiative is still taking shape. Lifeshare is not yet announcing a collection centre or public drop-off timetable. The immediate work is to understand demand, food-safety responsibilities, storage, transport and fair distribution so that generosity becomes reliable support rather than waste or confusion.
